Music Teaching

Being a school music teacher requires a keen interest in music as a subject as well as being a good overall teacher. In the past, music lessons consisted of sitting students in front of a keyboard and handing out tambourines, shakers, triangles and a guiro tone block. While this is still necessary for their education, the software is being used to complement a student’s understanding of the instruments as well as assisting in the theoretical music education.

Software such as Rising Software is a music teaching software that contains two specialist applications to save teachers time and improve student results. The theory application is suitable for all student abilities and is a useful tool complete with 54 topics for teaching rhythms, sheet music, time signatures, intervals, matching key signatures and much more.

The other application covers the fundamentals of what to listen out for in pieces of music. Pitch, rhythm, intervals, chords, scales and tuning are some of the basic music functions. The software also contains more advanced lessons in dictation, harmony, cadences, jazz, melodic transcript and progressions. The in the 57 topics are graded and progressive, building up a student’s confidence in their music education.

The Windows and Mac compatible software allows teachers to record and keep track of students’ progression, build lessons around the curriculum, set quizzes, assessments and exams and teach with real music.

Students can use the software across a range of devices including laptops, phones and tablets and quickly receive feedback from teachers on completed work. The interface is clear and easy to use to keep students focussed on their studies.
